Places – Maria Beamont and Caroline Crampton

6 February to 3 March

Both Maria and Caroline enjoy the sense of location. Their work has this in common, however whilst Maria uses watercolour and natural materials to focus on the detail, Caroline uses pencil, inks, crayon and charcoal to capture the bigger picture.

Suffolk Skies – Peter Miller, Verena Daniels and Pat Todd

17 April to 12 May

Suffolk is noted for its skies. Peter Miller captures the scenes of tranquillity and drama played out above our heads. He paints directly onto glass in the mirror image and reverse of conventional technique. His work in this exhibition will be complemented by the 3D works of resident artists Pat Todd and Verena Daniels

Tony Egan (in aid of Age Concern)

19 May to 1 June

Reunion Gallery is holding a special exhibition in aid of Age Concern, showing some of the works of the late Tony Egan.

Tony was born in Hampshire and spent most of his youth growing up in London. He enlisted with the RAF for the Second World War and traveled the world painting in many of the places he visited. On retiring he studied at Ipswich Art School and went on to teach for the next 20 years – including a post at Westbourne High School, Ipswich, in the late 1970s and 80s. During that time he produced hundreds of paintings of various types and covered many subjects. His works were donated to Age Concern by his family following his death.

Tony’s painting draws influence from the surrealist and post modern school and reflects the themes and styles of earlier artists like Paul Nash. They make strong use of colour and form to create abstracted but thought provoking images.

This will be the second major exhibition of Tony Egan’s work at Reunion Gallery following a successful showing in 2003. Pat Todd, Reunion Gallery partner says “We have selected a range of pictures, many not shown before, that seem to reflect Tony’s concern for the environment – demonstrating perhaps a prophetic awareness of the impact of global warming well before there were any warnings. These pieces are balanced with some abstract interpretations reflecting Tony’s view of stars and planets within the cosmos.”

Verena Daniels, Reunion Gallery’s other partner says “We are pleased to support Age Concern again with this exhibition and hope to exceed the total raised from the 2003 showing.”
