The Reunion Gallery is now entering its 5th year of business. During that time the resident artists Pat Todd and Verena Daniels have always exhibited individual items within the Gallery but it is now time to allow them to demonstrate their artistic development over the previous 5 years by being the prime exhibitors in the Gallery. The exhibition contains a range of items produced by the artists over the last few years and includes new pieces especially created by Pat and Verena for this exhibition.

Cotman Reflections
8 July to 5 August

During July 2006 The Reunion Gallery will be staging an exhibition celebrating the legacy of Thomas Cotman.

Entitled The Cotman Challenge the exhibition will feature especially created work from selected artists each of whom will have interpreted the work of Cotman, and his lasting influence on the town, in their own style.

Much of Felixstowe’s character owes itself to the work of the architect Thomas Cotman and many of the town’s finest buildings, large and small, were designed by him around the turn of the 20th Century. They are notable for their fine proportions, exquisite architectural detail and enduring sense of style. Cotman was influenced by the Arts & Crafts Movement and designed his buildings to enhance their surroundings.

We anticipate that this exhibition will generate a large amount of interest in the local community and will promote awareness of the artistic and historical merits of the town.

The following artists have already accepted The Cotman Challenge: Maggie Hambling, Paul Reeve, Linda Kingsford, Rosemary Humphries, Michael Barrett, Ian McDermott, Alex Beale, Alison Malcolm, Ann Faiers, Chris Chesnut and Nicki Holt.

In conjunction with the Exhibition the Felixstowe Society will be leading Cotman Walks that start from the Gallery at 7.00pm and take about 1 and a quarter hours to look at the best of architect and artist Thomas Cotman’s work. The walks take place on Tuesdays 11th and 18th July and Thursdays 27th July and 3rd August.

Suffolk Open Studios

Coastal Exhibition

12 Aug to 2 Sep

Reunion Gallery’s summer exhibition features artwork on the Coastal theme created by selected artists who contribute to Suffolk Open Studios. The exhibition displays varied works of colour and imagination using a mixture of techniques including oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings with 3D work created in glass, ceramics, wood and plaster.

Suffolk’s coastline is ever changing, twice daily with the tides as well as the erosion and build up caused by the storms over the seasons. The coast and its beaches also contain worn fragments of both natural and artificial objects that provide the inspiration for the contributing artists. This exhibition captures those moments in time that will never been repeated.

Contributing artists to the exhibition are Jenny Goater, Judith Chestnutt, Alison Malcolm, Hazel Bignell, Alison Calvesbert, Edmund Oxborrow, Louise Greenwood, Delia Tournay-Godfrey, Elizabeth James as well as resident artists Verena Daniels and Pat Todd.
