“ I have a deep affection for industrial architecture and find delight in the texture of concrete and rusting steel and structural elements of rivets and girders.
These textures are a gift to the ceramic artist as the clay medium is sympathetic to creating rough surfaces and the application of oxides and glazes evoke the rusting of metal and corrosive processes.
For the Reunion Refresh I have produced a body of work which exhibits these industrial influences from sources as diverse as boat engines in Ipswich, historical military armaments in Cuba and roof girders in Landguard Fort – Felixstowe ”
