“The Waveney Valley, a marshy lowland that borders Norfolk & Suffolk, is the area where I live and work. Signs of impermanence perceived in the subtleties of surface erosion or decay are recurring themes in my art, which has led to a philosophical reflection on the nature of ephemerality in the environment. My intention is that my paintings transcend initial perceptions of the ‘surface’ and that, like the environment they mirror, they should be traversed slowly, revealing a deeper significance over a period of time.”
